Vintage Transportation

The Austin Healey first made its appearance in 1962. The car was usually colored salmon, although other colors were available such as blue and red, though these colors are much more rare to find. The car was a two-seater, meaning that only 2 dolls could fit inside.

The car was later discontinued after Mattel wanted Barbie to have a more "All-American" lifestyle. Since the Austin Healey was a British car, it did not suit the all-American lifestyle Mattel wanted to create for Barbie. Another car was introduced in the mid-60's resembling a hot rod, and then later in the 70's, Mattel released the Barbie Corvette which has become Barbie's signature car to date. Many other forms of transportation were produced including an Airplane and Hot Rod.
